In April 2016 the Black Mental Health Alliance for Education & Consultation, Inc. (BMHA) launched its evening Community Grand Rounds (CGR) series in partnership with the Baltimore Chapter of the National Medical Association (NMA). Dr. Melissa Clarke, a board certified emergency medicine physician and population health expert, serves as the Dean of the CGR. The evening Community Grand Rounds aim to share the knowledge and research of national and local thought leaders in the behavioral health field with their peers and with the community as a way to improve the whole health mental health of black and brown people and those that are marginalized.
Dr. Rahn Kennedy Bailey, Chair of The Department of Psychology and Behavioral Medicine Wake Forest Baptist Hospital was the inaugural speaker.
Each Community Grand Rounds event includes networking opportunities, formal presentations and audience question and answer sessions. This proven format allows behavioral health subject matter experts to speak with community members about existing research projects that can improve health and wellness.
Each Community Grand Rounds event is hosted in a community setting. Topics are chosen by a well-rounded group of community members in partnership with BMHA staff.
Our community partners include:
- Coppin State University College of Health Professions
- Hope Health Systems, Inc.
- The Medi Community Resource Center
- Medical Home Comprehensive Family Care
- Monumental City Medical Society, Baltimore, MD
- St. Agnes Hospital
We welcome new partners! If your organization is interested in partnering with BMHA to sponsor a Community Grand Rounds event, please contact the BMHA Executive Director, Jan Desper Peters, firstname.lastname@example.org.
